Welcome to the carnival's death leaderboard. Only records performed during the carnival are permitted. Additionally, I'll be keeping track of everybody's records added together, which will be referred to as the DEATH TOLL.

As per traditional carnival rules, people using death mode clones are allowed to participate in this unified leaderboard. Though keep in mind that only people playing in the real death mode will have their records carried over into the real death leaderboard at the end of the carnival. And with the latest modded MAME being so responsive, there's less of a reason than ever to use clones.

DEATH 605 !!

I finally performed a M rank on my keyboard, I passed 500 around 3:18,
this is all what I remember because the electricity in the train between Paris and Bordeaux shut down before I record the screenshoot.
(it shuts down around every 20min, and my battery has been dead for years.)

After 40 minutes of game for this death carnival, I was able to powerfull manual lock at 300 and even a little bit at 400,the first section is the one I manage the less with an average time at 48sec

I hope this carnival won't finish at 605 for me !
and why not a new record this week..I need to keep dreaming.

Not posting a great deal because I'm recording all my scores. So far consistency in the 350-500 range with most of the games, but annoyingly only 3 M grades so far out of the 60 or so games that I've played. D:

Did have a 499 @ 3:13:36, but I topped myself out trying frantically to clear a line when the music had died, and screwed up in the process. If I'd known I had that much time it would easily have been an M.

Last I tried it was a great pain. If I remember it you recorded from power-on and then when you wanted to make an avi out of it you had to watch through the whole thing. So pretty much make that awesome performance in your first try since power-on or you had to sit through all games until the one you actually wanted to record. Do you have to do it this way or can you record from anywhere?

If you record an AVI with Fraps you can fast forward through the thing or just seek to the right position. But you'd also need at least a quad core and a tonne of disk space.

I meant I was recording them all on paper. Though I do run it through a batch script that creates .inp files for every single run.

Means that I generally exit and restart every five or six games or so, meaning if I want to record a video of one of my later runs I don't have to wait through quite so many games.

I had done one more Gm in MAME roughly the same time as the other one, in MAME, slightly over 6 min that is. I think that made 3 in MAME up to that point. But I have had since then a ton of games that were quite a bit faster than that (estimated Gm time if finished ~5:45 or something like that), but that I have not been able to finish. Dying between 790 and 890 or such was pretty common on good runs, but there were alot of moves that easily "slipped" (I dont know if this is a good description really haha, but) out of control, when I started realizing 'Hey, this is going great'. That seems to be alot more manageable in this lagless version. I'm guessing, but I think it is pretty accurate to say that raw speed increase between the MAME versions are something like 10 seconds for me maybe? But the confidence to pull of certain odd, bizarre and clumsy moves increases too so, haha. Hard to judge exactly, it was by all measures just a pretty good run for me. In Texmaster I have had a few in the 5:4X range earlier, so that kind of tells the story too maybe, not sure.

Short version: Yeah, one MAME Gm to the next was something like a 30 second difference, but yeah, that doesn't really tell the whole story, haha.

I hope my english isn't a problem to understand, that was quite a block of long sentences.

I don't know about easy, but sure felt easier and more relaxed then the last time, haha. Unfortunately I still doubt that, but I really havent played the new MAME enough to really tell what difference in consistency it makes. I will have to get back to you on that. ;)

I didn't even know it was a personal record. The more I play, the more I realize that reaching level 500 will not happen during the Carnival. I'm overwhelmed by the level 400 speed and level 300 speed isn't easy either. Knowing this I will still try very hard get as close to level 500 as possible, but I'm not expecting anything extraordinary anymore.

This is normal I guess. I neglected this mode for far too long. After the event I'll keep playing more regularly to do something about it. ^^;

Switched to stick, and have been playing with it all day. Started manlocking, which I found to be much easier on stick than on keyboard.
This was going to be my last game (but since the clock was over midnight I had to count it towards day 5 of the carnival) before going to bed and it turned out to be a new record. It was kind of a shock, because I hadn't really been over 200 more than once the entire day. (check log (http://tetrisconcept.net/forum/showpost.html?p=35950&postcount=6))
I feel like I could have kept locking for a while longer, but I wanted to play it safe.

Also, I had just played with some bat-scripts for mame so VIDEO is coming! :awe:

I was realising that my only one chance to really come back here with a good level (which is the only one thing which count), would be to drop both job and girlfried.
Being a single student like before, with an average of 3 free hours per day, instead of 30min every other days.

But that is impossible, I need a job, and I will never drop my gf for a video game, even TGM.

So what to do..It is making me so depressed and frustrated.
With a new stick what do you think I will do ? I will play 2 hours, 2h30 per week ? Every body know that it is not enough to push a game like we need to for TGM.

I think you're a little deluded... You should remember that DeHackEd is older than you and has a full time job etc. Only he can answer for sure, but I'd guess that during an average, non-carnival week he plays less than an hour a day average. Hell, I probably only play 0-2 hours most weeks.

With NoTGhost's best mentioned by Amnesia yesterday we already surpass last years effort. Make sure to post Amnesia. 20000 should be broken and I'll play a few hours later to try and do my part. It would be helpful if others give it one last shot too. K get GM if you already haven't! ^^
