Goals for the Carnival

So what are you hoping to get out of this year's carnival?

Personally, all I want is a sub 6:00 GM. Maybe even a bit faster to be within a minute of the world record. Reaching GM is completely expected for me, all I care about is getting faster.

Also, hopefully, going to try and record my results for every single game, if I can be bothered.

I'd say it is possible. Once you can get to x60~x70, you're probably at the point where you are capable of handling the whole stretch on a clean, focused run.

Not a stretch, I was in the same position last year, rarely 200+. Though I didn't get to 300 until after the carnival. But I did it.

A very modest objectif for me : getting my first keyboard M rank, my best today is 500 at 3:26 so...

I have been able to resist until 850 starting from 500, after how many...7-8 attempts maybe ? So a new record this week is not a complete dream..

Haha, on second thought this is definitely the more achievable goal for me. I can't really seem to ever speed up my gameplay in Death, and honestly I think the problem is related to the music. I seem to really rely on the music to tell me how far I am in my levels, so I think I'll try muting the volume or something for a few games and see where that takes me.

300, I hit 200 last year and have not touched death since. but in the last year i've been working on manual locking at 20G and am playing it much better.

if I get that I down 300 is reachable for me.

I don't seem to be able to get this 300, though I do keep trying... when the machine is free, at least... :p I think my average is about 130. But it's so hard to know how to improve. Just practice, I guess.

How's everyone else doing on their goals? Any progress to report? :)

I've got another 12 hours until Carnival ends here, but you know what, I'm done with Death.
I played 304 games. When most don't even go for 2 minutes, this is relatively easy to manage.

Let's take a look at my goal:

hm, im done too. i did get to 500 two times with texmaster, but i cant do it here.
whatever, i did get to 400+ a lot in the last 2 days and got gold st a few times so im happy with that ^^
im not fast enough to pass 500 anyway right now.

played a couple of hours on the first day then... no game on friday, saturday, sunday and monday, a couple of hours tuesday and none today...
and I won't have time to play tomorrow either :'(

..and the carnival is now officially over in Sweden and some other European countries.

I was not able to reach 300 more than twice, but both times I beat my old record. Also I've been playing with keyboard for a long time, but dug up my stick and was able to achieve better times in death when using it. (because I CANNOT manually lock with keyboard IN DEATH)

Overall, I'm happy with how things went, though I would have hoped to get to 200+ more often. :)

For me personally this event was a big disappointment. I should look for the kanji for failure and use it as my avatar until I reach level 500. ^^ I did get a new personal best, but deep down I was expecting to at least get somewhere near level 475. It's not that I haven't played enough because I played nearly 11 hours total this past week. Clearly I should have started practicing when colour_thief posted the A premonition of death... thread.

The lesson I have learned is that I need to play more frequently. Things can only get better. Hopefully...

Yeah I only got really fit in two real play sessions, so i didn't have enough time to pull off an M, or do any sort of commentary thing like I did last year. Got a lot of stick practice in though, and I DO feel like I'm starting to stack smarter and less "pointy". Now I just have to stop misdropping and doing stupid things 9_9

I failed my goal, but not by much. My best GM being really slow is a little misleading, as I had quite a few 750+ games that would have smoked my personal best record.
