If the meeting was in London in August I would absolutely go. If the meeting was in Paris then there is a small chance.

Actually, if you all wanted to do something in December then there is a very large chance that I could go regardless of location.

If the meeting is pretty much anywhere in Western/Northern Europe in September I'll be there.

If it's in August I'll still probably be able to make it (unless it clashes with the Reading Festival) but might have issues because I'll be working over the summer.

damn former teacher mode on: YOU ARE WRONG!!!:sneaky:

a 5 percent chance = 0.05

so to find the chance of both events happening (Amnesia not snoring on first night, and Amnesia not snoring on second night) we simply multiply the probabilities straight up.

0.05*0.05=0.0025

and then we multiply by 100 to convert to percent

0.0025*100= 0.25%

Seems he's right. :)

jago, how much is it for 1 person in this hotel, I am really stressed for this problem; I don't want to hear people complaining, I will be there from friday evening to monday afternoon, so it is 3 whole nights, I could sleep 2 nights in your flat and spare the other night in staying in the hotel.
Or maybe you have an isolated room, I can even sleep in the bathroom if it large and long enough for my body.

You can play GC games on PetitPrince's Wii, just take the games and some GC controllers. You don't actually need to bring the GC itself.

What did you guys pay for your tickets? I'm looking at a €210 return ticket for a return ICE to Strasbourg and I'm not very happy about it.

Ai
06-26-2010, 11:07 PM
For that price you may as well take a plane. I don't know the details, but a friend of mine was in Mulhouse (also in Alsace near Strasbourg) in February and took a plane from the Netherlands. If you're lucky you could get return tickets for almost half that price.

PetitPrince
06-27-2010, 12:17 AM
I got mine (117.40€) from TGV-Europe (http://www.tgv-europe.com). Watch out though, SNCF's websites are known to be quite shitty (for instance, I can't search anything right know because of a "technical error").

lyon-strasbourg: 17 euros
strasbourg-lyon: 17 euros

http://www.voyages-sncf.com/

there's a few sits in every train they call "prem's" with ver low prices that are opened for sale like two months before departure (and are generally sold out rather fast)

maybe you can sort someting cheaper than 210 euros with some flight to mulhouse (or even to lyon, dunno) as suggested, from there it's only two train station to get to strasbourg.

btw, received my tickets this morning

Rosti LFC
06-27-2010, 02:58 PM
Hmm... those Lyon trains could be useful.

I can't fly to Strasbourg cheaply from Liverpool, so I'll probably end up going via Paris, Zurich or somewhere else (mayeb Lyon if the trains are going to be that cheap). I'll work things out when I've got my summer placement dates and I can know which days I'll be coming.

cyberguile
06-27-2010, 05:34 PM
use the link I've provided, enter your dates from different places on the right of the front page and click on "Réservez", then browse through all the trains until you find a ticket with the PREM'S icon next to it (the price will be written in an orange/yellow background)

Hah, flying Easyjet from Brussels to Lyon and taking a cheap ticket from Lyon to Strasbourg would be €110 for a return.. That's almost half of the return Düsseldorf-Strasbourg I was looking at. Not worth the faff though, and way too many factors involved that could go wrong.

cyberguile

Also, note that from the airport to the main train station, it's a 40 minutes bus trip, one bus every 20 minutes.
You should check something like flight from amsterdam to basel (switzerland: http://www.euroairport.com ) then basel-strasbourg by train (which is cheap and fast)

muf

That's cheap indeed, but the only cheap flight to Basel arrives at 22:40, and the last train to Strasbourg leaves at 22:48. I can't teleport from the plane to the train in 8 minutes. :\ The next train leaves at 05:17.

EDIT:
€110,38 for Amsterdam-Basel-Strasbourg and Strasbourg-Basel-Düsseldorf. Not counting the fares between Basel CS and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Not too bad but still a lot that can go wrong and I wouldn't be able to take my Type-X or any joysticks with me.

If we end up going via the plane -> train route, then would be cool to book the same train into Strasbourg if the times aren't too inconvenient.

Ordered my tickets. Going through Stuttgart, but at least this way I can bring lots of stuff with me. I had to order separately from Bahn.de and TGV-Europe.com, which was quite risky, but the only way to ensure a fair price and get a reservation (Bahn.de kept giving an error about not being able to place the TGV reservation).

€136 from Bahn.de (Köln-Stuttgart, Stuttgart-Köln)
€42 from TGV-Europe.com (Stuttgart-Strasbourg, Strasbourg-Stuttgart)
My parents are taking me to and from Köln by car
Total: €178.

I'll arrive in Strasbourg Thursday 20:15, and depart on Monday 13:45.

Tentative packing list:
TAITO Type-X arcade system
Dual-stick JVS/JAMMA supergun (Virtua Stick Pro with SEGA Rev. B JVS I/O, Wei-Ya VGA adapter and power supply)
2x USB Joysticks (Virtua Stick Saturn with Sanwa JLF and OBSF-30)
Fighting Stick Wii (with Sanwa JLF and OBSF-30)
Fighting Stick X360 (with Sanwa JLF and OBSF-30)
Tablet PC

I'll try not to take anything with me that isn't going to be used, so it's probably a good idea to make a list of who's bringing their own sticks and who needs to borrow one.

I should be starting work for six weeks on Monday. Which is good news and bad news.

Good news is that I can at least go (which wouldn't really be the case if I was starting a week later and only had Saturday and Sunday off), bad news is that I probably won't be in Strasbourg any earlier than late on Friday evening.

I'm going to try and maybe get my final day of work off so I can travel down on Friday morning or maybe even Thursday evening and get an extra day, but I'll probably just have to make do with finishing work on the Friday afternoon. I'll book stuff for sure when I know exactly when I finish.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. I poured all my fucking effort from the last month into trying to get into shape for this meeting, too, and I won't be able to make it. Sorry guys. However, I'll be in England starting tomorrow so if anyone happens to be there just lemme know!

EDIT: Actually...there is still a very small chance I might be able to go. I need to get to England soon and it seems that the flights we were going to switch to from my August flight are all prohibitively expensive. I might still be going in August, and if I do I will 100% be certain to attend the meeting.

I won't be able to go D:

Basically I've got the choice of taking a few days off to go to Strasbourg, or a few days off to go to the Reading festival. Or shit gets fucked up entirely, I go through a huge faff and don't work or get paid for the last two weeks, which I'd rather not do (and it's not even confirmed that I'd be able to do it anyway), so leaves me missing Strasbourg of Reading. I'd actually probably enjoy Strasbourg more, but I've already paid about £180 to go to Reading, plus transport to and from Strasbourg is going to be a pain to organise and will be expensive because it's fairly last-minute, and I'll only be able to be there for two or three of the days anyway.

So yeah, I should have been able to go, but the company I'm working for fucked me over by being slow, and I finish a week after the weekend rather than the week before like I planned. It sucks, but c'est la vie I guess.

Hope you guys have fun (but not too much :\), and I'll be doing nothing next summer so I'll almost 100% certainly be able to go to a meeting next year regardless of when it is (so long as it's in Europe though). Maybe this is good news for someone who wants to go but couldn't because there weren't enough places?

ok i must start listing all available material for the meeting...
i must also watch for a live streaming,
For sure i have 2 BIG CRT TV.. but i would be glad if another supergun was available, meaning TGM1, TAP and Ti available at the same time !!:sneaky:

I could ask Deniax if I'm allowed to bring his JVS supergun to Strasbourg (he still hasn't picked it up at mine from servicing it with OBSF buttons), but it's 1P only and JVS only, but it works for Ti. So we could use your 1P supergun for TGM1, my 2P supergun for TAP, and Deniax's supergun for Ti. That would limit dual play or versus play to TAP only, but it's by far the most interesting game for those anyway.

FYI, I've ordered a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle so that we can capture the actual gameplay feed alongside the webcam feed for dual angle livestreaming. Let's just hope it arrives in time :). I'll also bring my VGA to video converter so we can stream Ti just as effortlessly.

Dual angle is not going to happen unless Jago has a sufficiently fast PC with USB3. I was planning on using my Intensity Shuffle with a USB3 ExpressCard in my laptop, and according to Blackmagic staff that does not work as of yet, but they're "working on it".

Surely low res stuff can work over USB2?

That's the thing, as of now the Intensity Shuffle doesn't degrade its functionality gracefully when connected over a low bandwidth bus. 2.5Gb/s is more than enough for 8-bit 1080i half-duplex, but the Intensity also supports 10-bit formats and also streams BACK to the device for its outputs. In my opinion it's just short-sightedness (you want your device to do at least something on inadequate systems, not just fail completely), but it's good to know they're listening to their customers.

As far as I know, USB2 support is not even planned though, probably because of the way the device works internally. At 480Mb/s I'll also admit there isn't a lot of possible functionality left aside from 8-bit SD half-duplex capturing.

So today timc, muf, KevinDDR and myself arrived. I was pleasantly surprised that my spoken English is not as bad as I thought.

Jago's apartment is much bigger than the last one. We no longer have to switch the rooms from a sleep to play configuration anymore !
Anyway, we set up some arcade boards, but muf is still struggling to get his stuff working. We place them on a dedicated room. It feel a bit like a geeky Tetris command center, with so many computer, laptop, game board and other electronic stuff on.

Tomorrow we will try to get the things a little bit more organized.

Well, the meeting was honestly the best two days of my life so far. It was totally surreal to take 12 hours of trains to a foreign country to meet up with a bunch of European TGM players, and I have to say that you guys are all really really awesome. I'm so glad to have been a part of this community and I couldn't have been more pleased with how friendly everyone was at the meeting. Absolutely worth the nearly $1000 it cost me to attend. :D

For anyone wondering, I didn't break any records at the meeting. I did, however, get two more MMs in Ti.
