IRS help please [Archive]

Heres my problem, what exactly is IRS?

Im not entirely sure i understand, will someone please break it down simply for me.

Also i wanted to ask, what can i do to improve upon two minutes in 40 line gameplay on tetris friends? (I have ARR and IRS enabled. ARR is as fast as it possibly can go.)

IRS stands for Initial Rotation System.
If you hold a rotation button while a piece is spawning, it will appear on screen with that rotation.

...except Tetris Friends has it programmed wrong. Although you can press a rotation button during the line clear animation and have it pre-rotate, you cannot hold a rotation button over multiple line clear animations and have every piece pre-rotate. You still have to issue individual rotation inputs, but the upshot of IRS in TF is that your inputs don't get ignored if they were being made during that delay.
