like a quote on another thread. i like to apply this "skill" in as many diffrent ways as i can.

so i figured another good way to play tetris, but not play tetris at the same time is upside down mode.

Rev Mode (Pieces rise instead of falling as you play Tetris in reverse.) : Down, Up, Up, Down, C, B, A.

i only know that it works on TGM1 ... i'm not sure about the other games cause finding ANY english sites about them are pretty much impossibe. i should take a japanese class.

I wonder if someone is insane enough to get GM this way? Video would be nice. It's probably already been done. ^^

Kapat: You definitely can do better than that. Just stack as high as possible in the beginning. Rank 3 before level 100 isn't that difficult. Try to survive till level 200 by keeping the stack low. You should be able to get Rank 1 by taking advantage of the slower speed at level 200 by making a few tetrises. S1 was a little tricky though... After level 300 I couldn't keep up for long any more.

Just emulate one of the other leaderboards. ^^ But I think it's okay now. It'd be too bad if you take only level into consideration. I would focus on stacking low the whole time instead of trying to get tetrises which would make it less challenging.

I had no idea the performance I posted wasn't bad. ^^

I only tried this game mode because I saw kapat got 7 and wondered if it was really that hard. First few games were terrible, but afterwards I could manage playing clean at low gravity and even started using combos before level 100.

I'm used to stacking for tetrises on both sides and the switch didn't seem all that difficult to me. Also I play very careful and slow. You may have noticed my terrible time. ^^

I was close on numerous occasions so it was just a question of time before I could do it. I'm surprised at how long I managed to survived. I nearly even got to 20G.

Maybe I should start REV 20G practice. ^^

I recorded the game, but I have problems playing the inp. TAP inp files are very small and I don't have trouble playing them. On the other hand TGM inp files I create are over 100MB in most cases and when I try to playback the file I get the message: "Playback Ended. Reason: Out of Sync.". Also REV has some black line artifacts in the newer MAME versions that I'm sure weren't there before. Tested on different systems and happens only in REV as far as I know.

EDIT:

I can get TGM inp files working in fronted MAME now. ^^; And maybe the artifacts in MAME have always been there. I believe I only played REV in ZiNC in the past, were everything works just fine.

Congrats Amnesia! Very nice result. You're a little slower than me, but that's not really surprising if you only started playing this mode recently. Maybe you got this result in a few tries? And yes it's indeed very hard and confusing in the beginning. Once you play a few sessions over a period of time things will get easier and less confusing. I still have a very hard time after level 300.

That's the difference in skill between you and me right there. Highest I got after playing a few games late last year was grade 2. It's amazing that you only needed half a dozen tries to get to the 20G sections. I probably played this mode for about 6 or 7 hours so far. S5 doesn't look impossible as I almost managed to get it, but I will first need to improve survivability in 20G.

Good luck getting a higher grade.

Somehow missed this thread earlier. Already S6 and almost S7. It would be awesome if you reach the end. Looks like you have what it takes if you keep playing long enough.

I've updated the leaderboard with your S8. It's not difficult to believe when you can get S5 after a few tries playing the mode seriously. I'll be rooting for you to get GM! In the mean time I'll try to get accustomed to 20G. ^^
