That's exactly the attitude you need. How are you supposed to think fast when you haven't learned how to think at all? It's important to play at lower speeds and then ramp things up as you improve. Playing faster than you can handle won't teach you much.

Fortunately, jujube just made a 20G mode leaderboard. Perhaps that would be a good place to start before moving on to DOOM.

Of note, though, are some section times I got tonight---I had a couple rounds where I decided to push myself to the limit, and got some good times. (and was decently enough stacked, it's a shame my attention lapsed in the 400 section 'cause, once again, it's too late for me to be playing a game like Heboris) I have a sub-30 second section now (100-200), and all of my sections below 500 have >2 TPS (the others are still remnants from Devil-Minus). The first two are at ~2.25.

I still can't seem to get into 500 with a low stack--I can handle the speed at 400, but I'll always have a brief (but deadly) lapse in attention in the 400 section that causes my stack to be much higher than it should be because of a few misdrops.

The only differences lie in the inaccuracies that may exist in DOOM. These include the speed timings, conditions and evaluation methods, and the possible existence of 1301.

- Run the program
- Click "Create" in the bottom left corner
- Type in a name for the configuration, eg. Heboris
- If you're using a joystick where the stick is listed as a "POV Hat" by Windows, then click the "Others" tab at the side, and make sure "Use POV Switches" is checked. If your stick doesn't use the POV Hat thing, then you shouldn't need JoyToKey to start with.
- Go back to "Joysticks" and set the directions on the POV Hat to buttons on the keyboard, like the arrow keys. Leave the buttons.
- Make sure the Heboris configuration is the selected one (highlighted in blue) and then minimise JoyToKey. Do NOT close the program.
- Run Heboris, and go to the control options (2nd from bottom on main game menu, then go left once or twice).
- On the keyboard settings for Player 1, assign the directions to those of the stick
- On the Joystick settings for Player 1, assign the buttons on the joystick to whatever you want them to be.
- Run a quick input test to make sure, and it should be working fine.

On Devil-Doom the torikan for 500 is 3:03 with Ti-ARS. If you're using Heboris rotation it is 3:25.

Yeah, the torikan is at 3:03 on Heboris. I just set mine to 2:28 to match that of Ti. Recently though, I've begun adjusting it at 2:18 to train speed.

Yes, no matter what Amnesia would prefer, the leaderboards exist for the TC community. It would be fantastic if so many great Japanese players were comfortable with English and participated here, bus alas I don't think that will happen.

To pass the torikan, I'm sure you know that you only have a little less than 30 seconds to spread across the 5 sections. Of course, you may play faster in the later sections to compensate for slower times in early sections. However, this is not the case if you are not manually locking from 300-500. Here's a rough guide on what time you should be at in each section if you are planning to not manual lock at 300-500.


000-100 : 00:30:00

100-200 : 00:58:00

200-300 : 01:22:00

300-400 : 01:55:00


As for how to accomplish these times, you'll have to adjust the way you're stacking. From the replay, I noticed a habit that can be very dangerous. You often try to avoid overstacking over holes and it ends up backfiring. The distraction pulls your thoughts away from keeping the field in a stable and mobile state. Overstacking is not always a bad thing. It can even be beneficial when used correctly. I have a couple of stacking theories that I'll share in the future when I find a concrete way to write them down.


And one last thing, DAS my friend. http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif I'm sure this aspect will improve once you develop a faster ARE reaction. Consequently, you also won't miss IRS opportunities.

I definitely agree that avoiding overstacking is something that should only be done as long as the screen is stable. Stability is the first priority, and you shouhld not hesitate to overstack if it is required.


Of course, a good player will see more options and can maintain stability more often, such as KAN's excellent use of overhangs.

At this rate, reaching 1301 will take forever. Previously, the developer of Devil-Duke3D wanted to quickly get it out as an alternative to the other modes, but then decided to scrap everything and go for total accuracy.

Congrats on breaking the torikan on DOOM! To be honest though, it doesn't surprise me. You were already bordering the torikan on Texmaster and equivalent DOOM games should be faster in time. Lock flash is not on by default with Ti-ARS on Heboris. Perhaps you might not be noticing a huge decrease in time playing on DOOM because you're not taking full advantage of DAS? Long before I refined my technique to get a 2:00:xx torikan time on Texmaster, I was able to hit 2:04:xx on DOOM with much messier finesse and ease.


As for DOOM being harder, I'm referring to 500+. Lower lock delay and slower DAS on DOOM makes it harder.

TDS rotation negates the delays, which add to the challenge. The real challenge though is mastering TGM rotation itself. Level 300 DOOM with Ti-ARS is probably equivalent in difficulty to level 1000 speedwise with Ti World and level 600 with TDS rotation. A more equivalent torikan (in difficulty) for TDS rotation may be around 2:10 - 2:15.

That said though, 2:28 for Ti-ARS isn't that hard after you're able to pass it a couple of times. I virtually never run into it at all in a normal run and often have times under 2:15, sometimes under 2:10, and the occasional under 2:05.

I've never reached past level 725 in DOOM, so all those are Devil-Minus times. On my other computer, I'm below 30 seconds on all of the first 5 or 6 sections, but Hebo doesn't discriminate between DOOM and Devil-Minus. Actually, I'd say that abusing move reset is something I've come to un-learn after months of playing ARS almost exclusively. I think the two main reasons are a) always going for the shortest route to placing a piece, and b) blocking off certain areas of the stack as candidates for stacking simply because they're impossible to reach with ARS. I actually have to consciously think "wait, this is SRS, I can actually put this piece over there". ARS with move reset probably wouldn't work for me, as I decide what I'm going to do next during lock+clear/are, and not during active time, so I'd probably still fail horribly due to lack of thinking time.

It is absolutly normal, TI ARS uses the "step reset" and ACE ARS2 is exactely the same system but with the "move reset"..
That means in TI-ARS, you have a constant lock delay value whatever you do, and in ACE ARS2, the lock delay is indefinitely reset after each move or rotation..

I did an interesting experience yesterday :

I measured the falling speed difference of the tetriminos in DOOM 600 and sudden ti 600..

On these 5 attempts :

DOOM 600 :
2:93 ; 2:93 ; 2:95 ; 2:93 ; 3:20
average : 2,988

sudden ti 600
3:48 ; 3:16 ; 3:16 ; 3:48 ; 3:80
average : 3,416


12,6% faster ?
14,3% slower ?

Depend of the sens where you do the ratio calculation, there is around 13-14% of speed difference..
In my opinion, we should stop to consider DOOM as a clone of SHIRASE, it is actually a well different game..

After 10 days on DOOM 600, sudden ti 600 and even 1000, seemed really peacefull, it really surprised me..
But I will wait to perform a real record before being so confident..

Now everything begin to be clear : digital, with his record at 670 and his TPS in March, was really able to progress very fast on tex..Kotetsu did not played on DOOM and began directely on Tex, so he stopped under 700..
For my case, I begin to be bored, I struggle because of an overdose of DOOM, I stop with a record at 669 and a TPS around 2,8 - 2,9, which is a bit less than digital in March. I am back on Tex the next week I think.
If my theory is correct, I should crush Rosti and kotetsu in few weeks on sudden ti in approaching the 800.

I don't know why but after a serie of ugly game between 0 and 130, I finaly recover my concentration and reach a 530..

Finaly I stop DOOM to come back on Tex..
I give up, I am bored and frustrated again..
I really thought that in insisting, with a lot of motivation, I could at least significantly reduce the gap between me and him..
After 9 or 10 months I am not able to reach his performances, regarding the score, the section times, and the fastest Torikan..
I don't know what do do anymore, I am desesperated, that means there is lot of thigs which is impossible even with an infinite motivation and effort..

There is only 3 solutions :

1 : He is a cheater like ghetto but more subtile.
2 : He is the only one western genius of Tetris, and we have to accept it.
3 : Digital has been invented by my mind, he doesn't exist.
