I'd get it published outside Japan.Amen. Even just TGM1... which makes me wonder if the PS1 game (that was, suprise, japan-only) had the standard TGM features or if it was just a generic Tetris clone...

If you mean Arika's Sakura licensed Tetris game, it's not very standard at all. It controls like TGM2, with a few small differences. The gameplay concept is based around Sega's arcade game Flashpoint (read: Tetris variant under a different name). There's a video on Arika's website showing someone kicking ass if you want to see what it's like. I've got a copy, it's fun. The only 2 modes are the "time attack puzzles" featured in the video, and VS (so no endless/standard mode). The VS is pretty cool, and has special powers in the same vein as Tetris Battle Gaiden (SNES). It even has a decent AI.
