As much as I feel justified in banning him from #arika, I don't think he deserves a ban from tetrisconcept. Just to give a more objective outlook on this. People who vote yes may be biased as well because they have not seen all the stuff he's said in #tetrisconcept. He's done some random things which I realize irritate some people, but he's also been helping people out and he's brought in some really nice new players. If you guys would stop provoking him, he won't feel like he has to defend himself. I know he's made a bad first impression on a lot of you but can we let it go and move on?

All I've really gathered is that corrosive talked a bunch of shit, which is absolutely no surprise seeing how he's been doing that for years. I see no need for moderation there. I'm assuming what you're referring to are his comments on Jono's multiplayer ability. Yeah, it was crude and could offend people. However, there is some truth to what he is saying. Jono's specialty is not in multiplayer. Sure, Corrosive could have expressed it more nicely, but I bet he's not lying about it. He does praise Jono for his singleplayer player speeds though. If you don't believe me, I'll post the log of it later.

1 warning given for being pointless and abusive, after he posted twice in the Friday the 13th thread, with his 2nd post being "man, i swear you say the stupidest shit.".

2 posts of his deleted from that thread for the reasons given above.

1 post by mufunyo directed towards corrosive was deleted because it was reported by a user.

1 retaliation post by corrosive deleted in an attempt to keep the peace.

1 topic by corrosive locked because it turned into a big joke that wasn't funny. he had his chance to explain himself, he did, and the topic wasn't going anywhere.

and 1 "ban corrosive?" poll started after numerous complaints about him from members. it's not really his language, but his inability to even attempt to get along with other people here. if someone agrees with him they're fine, but if you disagree with anything he says you'll get attacked personally, followed by the entire community being told to "go to hell" or whatever.

I'll vote yes after I make this post. Was gonna vote no, but then I saw his responses to this topic. I've never seen him apologize (Seriously anyway. He apologized sarcastically in one post) for anything he's done, and it seems to me he's disrupted more than he's helped around here. Looks like I missed a bunch of drama in my absence. In any case, I came into this thread with no opinion, and then I scrolled down and saw Corrosive's posts. It immediately became clear to me that his attitude is simply everything this forum is not, and the rest of his posts in other threads only confirm the trend.

I've always known Tetris Concept to be simply a hangout spot for Tetris fans, with interpersonal competition taking a distant back seat to simply trying to outdo oneself's previous records and discussion of finer points of game mechanics. Sure, interpersonal competition still existed, but it was quiet enough that anybody who wasn't interested could simply choose to ignore it. In fact, that's what drew me to the forum in the first place - I've never really cared much about high-level competitive gaming, but I do enjoy blowing my own personal record out of the water. Which in turn was also what originally drew me to the TGM series in the first place (and later Touhou as well). I realize whenever I upload a replay that there are dozens of people out there who are more skilled than me, and I frankly don't care about trying to beat them. I'm more interested in getting critiques pointing out how I can improve, and what elements of my playing style I should retain.

So, I vote yes to the ban. Not necessarily as a way of saying "you're not welcome here", but more of a "please take it to a community built around hardcore competition."

Side story: When i was around 10 or 11 I remember my mom brought home the original Tetris game on a floppy disc from work. It was the first time I had ever played tetris. I remember trying to score my best, but on the high score tables there were these two people 'Pat' and 'Zahn' from my moms work whose high scores were saved on to the game on the floppy disc. I found their scores unbelievable to me and I was amazed at how they scored that high. Also my older brother who lived at home at the time always kept beating my score and I was never able to beat him because I was young and not that smart. I never beat them and I don't remember what happened until years later after playing so much TetriNET2 that I found the Tetris game again on my pc or on the old floppy or wherever. I played that and crushed Pat and Zahn's score by at least 5,000 or so on the first try as well as my brother's by a large margin. That was the last time I ever really cared about old school score-reaching Tetris like that.

And yes there are risks to playing these games such as losing friends, becoming unsocial, and being labeled as a TGM scrub. You guys aren't talented. K? The better you get at stacking and placement means the faster you can go. You're all slow. I played 20g on tetris splash & tetris ds a lot and it is not that hard at all since I am a fast player. Except your single minded view is that speed is all that matters. Which isn't shared by the people who play TGM.

Partially because your speed is optional speed. On LJ you have to play fast for less than a minute. On Shirase you need to keep up an extremely fast speed for five minutes. And you can't slow down on a piece if you want an extra couple of seconds to think. You have to place every single piece quickly or you'll start losing. You can't switch between bursts of 200tpm and 100tpm and then come out at an average of say 170tpm or something. You're forced to keep the speed up without any chance of a breather.
You're completely misunderstanding TGM if you think it's some score-based version of Tetris. It's not like the shitty guideline marathon modes where the game doesn't really test you at all in terms of difficulty.

And I think Amnesia makes a very good point. I'm pretty close to your skill on multiplayer. I don't give a shit about 40 lines, but I'm not that far away from you on that either. But I don't reckon you could get anywhere close to my scores on any of the TGM leaderboards here.

You don't even need to be a fast player to find them easy. I maxed out the marathon score on Tetris DS long before I was anywhere near even Gm on TGM1.

Blockbox has a TAP Death and a Shirase mode too. They're called TA and Ti expert (On the bottom right). And you should have to play with ARS in TAP. (Since the actual TAP doesn't have World rules).

Honestly, corrosive, i think that current guideline singleplayer has (rightfully) left a bad taste in your mouth. It's broken tetris. EVERYONE here knows this. Super Rotation System is SRSiously only good for multiplayer, where the increase in mobility and options, along with the bag, remove most of the luck from the game. Except for the garbage system...

Assuming the controlls are responsive, i can complete every guideline compliant marathon mode every time. If I had the patience, I could max out the score in endless marathon, like so many have.

No more hopping pieces getting over obstructions. You actually have to stack properly to survive. And it's challenging to stack properly in TAP. TI is a bit more forgiving in the stacking department, because of the allowed floorkicks and the hold, but makes up for it with a SERIOUS speed increase that causes even GMs in TAP to struggle.

Sure you know how to stack in low speed, and how to stack even in 20G SRS. But you probably don't know how to stack in 20G under ARS. It's a totally different game. Almost everything you know is wrong.

It looks easy when others are doing it, but try it yourself before judging.

You only need to play to level 20 to get Marathon 3, and it only takes a few minutes in Marathon 3 to unlock everything else. 100 "traditional" levels is going to take way longer than 300 TGM levels. If he can't unlock the other modes through Marathon 3 for whatever reason, that'll just be a taste of what else is in store for him in this little "challenge."

So one thing here is that you claim to be so great but really, you spend all your time exclusively playing multiplayer and yet...Rosti and I who barely ever play multiplayer have come pretty close to beating you? We pretty much only play TGM...

A game of TGM3 Master mode takes 7 minutes or less providing you don't suck. A game of TGM3 Shirase takes about 3 to 7 minutes depending on how far you get. You get Sudden Ti 1300 and then come back here and say that shit again. It's not easy.

I thought it was a cool game, but I didn't get too involved with it at the time. The best grade I got at that time was a 3 or something, if I recall correctly. I guess I'm kind of lucky that it was NDS_TGM that got me into Tetris, so I've never underestimated the difficulty of attaining the scores in our records topics/those videos. TAP especially is WAY harder than it looks because of the limited floor kicks.

In any case, I can forgive corrosive if he's acknowledged the TGM series as more difficult than he thought. In some ways I feel I've been meaner to him than he's been to me.

No. His mistake was pretty understandable. Since Rosti omitted a unit of measurement on the target records, Corrosive assumed points. A TGM player would see that it was intended to indicate level, but that isn't too clear to people that are new to the series. It's just a little miscommunication, that's all.
