I think so, yeah.

I don't think there's any way to play region locked games outside the intended region.

Tetris Evolution is not bad, I'm told.

It'll cost you another $50:

Yes, but can you still go online? ACE is worthless without that.

i confirm, if you can't go online, this game is a totally piece of shit.

you should stay away from this game unless you can but a cheap j-X360.

Tetris Splash is FAR superior. And cheaper, too.

Yeah, I ran into this exact same problem about two months ago.

Not meanig to be rude but you where told wrong. That game is terrible from the crappy DAS to the lagging online games.

Very true, Tetris Splash is the way to go for Xbox 360.

Is the game really "THAT" bad without online game play?

Care to elaborate?

Yes, TGMA is really that bad without online play. Because Microsoft, in an attempt to "encourage" people into going online, coerced Arika into making a significant number of modes - even those that are single-player - playable in online only. Therefore you need to be online even when you're not playing with other people. AND those modes are necessary to unlock the majority of the offline-only modes as well. Therefore, if you are offline, all you get are the initial couple of modes and no way to unlock the rest. Truly absurd.

And if it's not clear to people, that means you have to pay for a monthly Live account just to play a little tetris. After buying a full priced game.

Care to elaborate?

if i remember well, first time you start the game available game mode :

-marathon 150 line slow speed

- standard 2P offline VS

- "faster" marathon 150 line (unlocked by completed slow version)

but that's all (if i remember well), and 150 line marathon is really cheap compared to Master mode

online allow to unlock other offline mode, but most interesting always stay online.

But is it any different from having to rent a Tennis court?

kapat
10-28-2007, 06:10 PM
not when the tennis court or field i buy is my television and xbox/PC and the racket and ball i buy is the $50.00 game

if i never buy the game, and am charged $5 a month for updates/standings/new stuff/better whatevers, THEN i'll be willing to keep giving out money.

but if it's all going toward HALO WARS, fuck that. get a real tetris tourny going. Tetris money should go towards tetris.

untill then otherwise it's a programmer's weekend.

Yeah, people forgot to mention that VS is a race to 10 lines. 10.

20, not 10.

that would last less than twenty seconds for some of us here. man, that's pretty short.

A race to 20 lines really simplifies the game. I'd prefer winning by topout, which incorporates many other skills in addition to speed.

Battles on Tetris (arcade by Atari Games) were less than 20 lines depending on the level; the winner got a bonus for finishing first. Battles on Tetris (GB) were 30 lines. "B-type" battles on Tetris & Dr. Mario were 25 lines. Battles on The New Tetris were to 150 points, which could be completed within 8 to 16 lines by someone who knows basic square patterns.

Won't modchips/firmware patches get you banned from logging on Live?

hm, you're right. now that i think about it, a lot of tnet games were that short.
