Is this something people are wanting to see again? For those who missed it last year, on 3/25 (March 25th), the torikan day, we held a week-long carnival of death in a temporary subforum where we celebrated everything T.A. Death. It was loosely based on a similar (albeit day-long) event that was once held regularly in a Japanese game center. Last year there were special leaderboards only open that week, as well as a VS tournament and lots of strategy discussions. You can see last year's wrap up thread here:

We all play such a variety of games and modes, not to mention we take tetris breaks and whatnot. I think it's really cool to see the community focus and be extra active for a week. But maybe once was enough? Let me know! http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif

I think we should make it an annual thing and get as many Japanese players involved too!

heck yeah!
though, i always play TA Death anyways =P
i could do some commentaries, c_t style. I've already done one (http://www.xanga.com/DDRKirbyISQ/687560615/texmaster-sudden-377-commentary.html), in fact.

Seconded.

I agree with muf: it should be annual. Even if we can't get very many Japanese players involved, if nothing else we could make it a tradition of sorts for TC.
I'm in if we do it again.

I'd definitely be eager for it.
And as much as it'd strip me of an advantage and most likely my title, maybe we could conduct the mini-tournament on Blokkendoos rather than laggy Kaillera?

I agree completely Rosti. But can Blokkendoos do Death VS? At any rate, we'll at least be using Heboris.
I'm seeing a lot of supporters but few voters. Remember to vote people! We need a critical mass for this to succeed.

The contest #1 for 0G has been abandonned, (just for the case of some poeple would still wonder..), but I had set everything for a contest #2 with DEATH 0 setting on blokkendos ! Why not start this one for the carnival ?
And this carnival will be a good thing, I am currently on lockjaw, then I will try to set SAKURA, and I had planed to come back on DEATH right after, that should perfectly fall during the carnival.

With custom settings, the DAS, lock delay and garbage are all there. I'm not so sure if you can force ARS with no wallkicks, and I don't think you can advance the speedcurve either.
And items would definitely be missing.
I wasn't around last year, but I'll definitely participate this year. And yes, let Japanese players join to make it a little more challenging for the elite members.

Sure, why not! I'd say Heboris sounds like the best option.

Why Heboris and not MAME? It's a nice way to celebrate it being readded!

Netplay in MAME lags like a mofo. It's not even TGM anymore when it lags that much. Most people didn't participate last year because of it.

It's not quite the same without items though, either. Neither Hebo Mini nor Blockbox have working items in netplay.

Could possibly have one mini-tournament without items and lag and one with items and lag?
I suppose I could give this a shot, if it ever comes around again. I can't seem to get Heboris working at the moment (download links don't work).
Haven't played much TGM myself... are the items anything like Tetris Battle Gaiden? A 20G version of that would be... interesting, to say the least.

Just a bump to remind everyone this will start in 9 days. So try to clear your schedule to make some time for it! And people with lots of free time, make sure not to burn out on Death before then. http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_exclaim.gif

Did I already tell you that the stick is not my only one support ?

So for playing we have:
A) MAME+Kaillera = Authentic thing but laggy as fuck
B) Heboris Mini = All the settings are there (I think?) but the garbage is screwed
C) Blokkendoos = All the settings are there and garbage is fine, but there's no way to actually advance the speedcurve. Does allow more than 2 players though.

Oh damn, I had totally forgotten!
PERFECT opportunity to get accustomed to my new stick! (pics still coming soon) *Prays that stick will not trigger any RSI symptoms, as then I will be SOL...well, there is always NDS_TGM xD*
I plan on doing some commentaries, CT_style, like this one:

edit: wow this is during spring break too. Perfect ^_^

I won't be able to heavily participate due to the mountainous amount of work I have that week AND my girlfriend's birthday. But I will gladly have my ass dead-kicked by you guys when I have time http://www.tetrisconcept.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif . Expect me on weekend.

Gaaaah, effin hell, I have no arcade stick... Sold my HRAP3 like... 2 months ago.. to buy FSTE, but it's just been delayed and stuff! =( Oh well, I'll have to play with my keyboard then. =/
Death is already upon us. I better start practicing seriously for this. I'm aiming to get over level 300 in TAP T.A. Death while manual locking.
@ Meroigo: What's important is to participate. ^^
@DDRKirby(ISQ): Just noticed your S5 in TAP Master earlier. Nice job. I've seen your stacking in T.A. Death and I think you have what it takes to get the GM grade in TGM.

I can get 1000 in TAP Master--I've done it in NDS_TGM before, and I've even done level 1000 in 20G mode on NDS_TGM. I just need to try a bunch and I'll get there. Well, actually, nowadays it'll be significantly harder because I find master to be a pain using a stick xD. Death was pretty easy to get used to, but under 20g movement finesse with a joystick is a whole new animal.
I don't actually have TGM, so I've just been playing TAP. =P
I also had a Shirase under TAP movement run on NDS_TGM that went unbelievably well and went to lvl 455.
