Is this real?

1. Yeah, looking at the pics of the kit, it's a horrible bootleg. :/

This is what a real Taito Type X should look like. Note the removable hard drive bay and USB security dongle. Also note that it doesn't have a JAMMA edge sticking out the back of the box; Taito Type X takes input from a JVS I/O, which you connect to the machine with a USB A-B cable.

this look very interesting !
Because there is directly the JAMMA Pin OUT available.. whatever is the shitty hardware inside, probably not as shity as "original Type X",
the only question is if it's plugged on a standard supergun, will we experience input/display lag...

tempted to buy it ? :awe:

3. No. Don't give money to some shitty pirate product.

4. I'm curious too.....but I doubt it would eliminate the normal lag present in the original game since it seems to be a bug in how windows interacts with the game itself....so unless they wrote a hack similar to yours to force polling differently....I doubt the lag would change.

19:06 <@[]> yo
19:06 <@[]> what do you think about this chinese bootleg ?
19:06 <@[]> apparently they sell a lot of other stuff
19:13 < muf> it's not a bad price but it's probably junk
19:14 < muf> my guess is it's some shitty hardware with xp embedded, the typex_loader input hack, and a j-pac or something like that
19:16 < muf> in the best case it might be an rs232 jvs to jamma pcb
19:17 < muf> but highly unlikely

of course nobody cared much, but i was curious enough to ask and got feeback from the supplier :

i think she don't even understand the meaning of "vague answer" but she master it :V

i tried to ask serena fan and got no answer at all. tell them you have a JVS cabinet, and ask them if there's a jvs i/o board?

Well, sometimes hoofbeats do mean zebras... the truth is much crazier,

Note the COM port hookup, the running of the video card output to the custom I/O board, and then to the back panel connector, the hard drive in the lower left, the dongle at the side, the front panel audio hookup to the i/o board, and then to the back panel connector. Also note the mysterious FLOPPY DRIVE HOOKUP from the i/o board to the motherboard.

There'a also a third hookup from the i/o board to the back panel connector, but it's hard to see. I think it takes the jvs cable.

and no, i didn't buy it. :)

now things become interesting !! muf ?

10. We know the lag is primarily a software issue. Knowing that how can you even give this a second glance?

From what I can tell, it doesn't use the loader, and that green board is a combo jvs/jamma/security board.

The motherboard chipset is the same one used on type x^2, (it's a Biostar G41-M7) and the cpu is either a pentium dual core (worst case) or a core 2 duo (more likely, because they are using this same board for all their other typex boots, and it will probably be cheaper overall to just use one cpu across them all, and err on the side of more power). So it appears roughly equivalent to a legit typex^2 plus jamma i/o adapter.

It most likely lags same amount as the original. Possible one frame less if using the jamma connector, possibly more frames due to slowness of custom i/o board. Only way to really know is to buy it and test. :)

It's also possible that the OS or game files could be modified and hacked to work even better, using the autohotkey workaround and an invisible mouse cursor. It's very unlikely they have already done this. :)

This is wrong.

it depends on how the board is designed i'd say. If the jamma part functions just like a capcom i/o board, then no, it can't be any faster. but if it somehow skips the master/slave JVS communication, then it could be faster.

14. Is it possible to bold forum titles?
