The Introduction Thread

  1. According to this thread, you are the forth. The other two have been reasonably silent for a few months now too, I hope they are still around!

  2. @Noskcaj mostly lurks here, but he came from Australia to participate in CTWC.

@XeaL, @M.Bison, and (I think) @awake are also from Australia but maybe less active here on TC lately. (Of those three, XeaL has been active on TC/HD most recently.) Not sure who else off the top of my head.

oh hey, there are some questions to answer :p

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^
I started playing Tetris when I was a kid, but I never really got into it until the TGM series showed up at my doorstep. Then I really got into the game then. :p

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
Well for now, it's TGM1 (and Texmaster2009), until I get GM. but that shouldn't be too hard since I got s5 on my second day xD

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
Well, I have Puyo Puyo (see next section), fighting games like Smash 4 and KOF, and just a whole bunch of games that I play with friends, like Gran Turisimo (that's cars) and Rocket League.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Oh, I play this cute game called Puyo Puyo. If you've ever heard about Kirby's Avalanche or Mean Bean Machine, it's that.
    Except you can counter damage.
And it's an eSport in Japan.

(the japanese are kicking my ass help)

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
Well, @BBQTurkeyzZ is the sole responsibility of my existence here. He introduced me to the TGM series and tetrisconcept, so blame it on him, lol.

but I have to say, both of these things are pretty cool.

    anyway yeah, that's it :p

  8. I only had the patience to get to 10 million points on infinite-play marathon. I could've kept going, but I got bored.

  9. There's really no point to continuing anyway. I have no idea why they made infinite a thing. Only thing I've ever been succesful at using it for, was keeping me awake on a long train ride following a night of drinking.

  10. Hey guys! I'm PabloNex, a 14 years old guy from Spain.

1.- I started 2 years ago, watching a YT video from a spanish youtuber, 'alexelcapo'. After watching it I went to tetris friends and everything started.(I haven't played constantly since, I just been playing more or less frequently since I registered in Hard Drop. I'm not very good, some of my stats are: Sprint 56s, 10 garbage lines 9.96 s and I'm rank 16 in TF arena (stable and approaching relatively fast to rank 17).
2.- I play mostly JStris, TF, TOP and tetr.js. I used to play TB Facebook too, but I stopped for some reason. I play C2, nullpo and KoS eventually too.
3.- I like lots of games but I'm playing some Brawlhalla now.
4.- I want to learn to play puyo puyo, to play PPT in ps4 this spring (any teacher here?)
5.- Time ago I registered in Hard Drop. Then someone invited me to the HD's discord server. I liked it and one day I suddenly searched in google 'discord tetris group' or something like that, and found the tetris chat room. That brought me here.

  11. I am new to the forum and was wondering could anyone tell me if 531,592 (level 42/lines 419) is a good score. This is my record. I play tetris e chalk. thank you!

  12. I have never heard about tetris e chalk before, but anything that's an improvement of your previous personal best is a good score!

  13. It looks like Tetris eChalk is a copy of N-Blox. It's possible to play this version forever, but I think the speed stops increasing after Level 10. That means you were able to clear 319 lines at the top speed, so it sounds like you can handle everything this particular version of the game can throw at you. :)

  14. thankyou! might have to move on, to challenge myself then!

  15. Go to Tetris Friends. Play their Survival game, try to get to the bonus section. Get as far as possible in the bonus section.

I'm "omio" on Tetris Friends, if you want a metric to measure against.

  16. Hello!
I'm a newcomer to your community and wanted to stop in and say hi.

I certainly don't have a history of playing Tetris, or any cool backstory as to why I'm here. But one day I woke up and decided I wanted to see if I could get good.
Having found myself on the IRC channels since last week and convinced to start playing TGM2P, I just managed to beat Normal mode and hit level 300!! :D However I've been experiencing the Tetris Effect for the last few days now. Does it eventually go away?!

Looking forward to chatting with more of you and getting better. :)

  17. Welcome! I can say from experience that the Tetris Effect does eventually go away. I can't say for sure how long that took for me, but now if I play for a couple hours, I no longer get it.

  18. Welcome to Tetris Concept and hope you have a great time here! Also, if by "the Tetris Effect" you mean the hallucinations then I'd say they'd probably go away once you reach a sub-conscious state in Tetris (Not having to think about where a piece goes.)

  19. Hi everybody,

my name is Chris. I am from Germany but have been living in Shanghai, China for the last years, because of work.

I have been playing TAP on and off for a couple of years but never really seriously and with long breaks in between. Starting from January I have been taking TAP more seriously. I enjoy watching high level play very much and still remember how that infamous "Japanese Tetris Master" video blew me away back then. I am a keyboard player but a couple of days ago I made the decision to switch to stick because I like the feel of playing with an arcade stick. I am used to sticks because I am also a huge fighting game fan. But still there is a noticeable skill gap for me for TAP, right now my stick performance is maybe 60-70% of my keyboard performance. The gap will take time to close but I am determined to close it eventually.

I currently alternate between Death and Master mode to practice my 20G performance. As far as my "skill" is concerned, when I concentrate and don't rush it too much, I can reach Death lvl 300 fairly consistently. I recently managed to get to 400, but only once. I usually top out at around 340-50ish. (The above all keyboard performance).

In the last months I improved a bit and want to improve further. I would really like someone higher skilled to have a look at my play to point out things where I can improve or point out disadvantageous habits that I don't notice myself. There are some stacking behaviors that I know are not good but I can't really put a finger on it (hard to put into words). Advice regarding movement finesse would also be highly appreciated.

What software do you guys use to record your videos? What would be the best sub-forum to post auch videos? And are the leader boards on this site active even for low level competition like myself?

PS. I don't know if there are Chinese players or players who are in China on this site. Should any of you ever go to Shanghai please let me know. We can talk Tetris and I can show you around. ;)

Looking forward to being a part of the Tetris Concept community!

  20. Yo.

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^
Seeing KAN play at GDQ blew me away.
I've been playing for about 6 months technically, but I haven't put that many hours into the game at all (probably 3 2 hour sessions). I'm nowhere near 'Great'. I just got to rank 2 in master mode TGM2P.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
TGM2P only so far. I play it whenever I need a break from VSRG. Wanna play more.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
IIDX, DDR, Popn, etc. Used to play a little bit of fighting games. I play a lot of forum mafia if that counts.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
    Not really.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
I think it was mentioned in one of the GDQ events.

Australian player. Hoping to get better.
