How to mod your VSHG 8 way stick into a 4 way one

  1. With the help of lee_n on #arika I modded my Virta Stick High Grade (VSHG) 8 way stick into a 4 way stick. Since I didn't found any tutorial to do on the web, I decided to make one. That's really not very complicated. Even I made it ^^.

    The main idea

The JLF-TP-8Y stick (the one which is shipped with your VSHG) is a 8 way stick. It can be modified into a 4 way one by simply rotating a piece in the restriction plate.

What you need to modify your VSHG

    1. The Virtua Stick High Grade (duh)

    2. A cruciform screwdriver

    3. A tool to unscrew 7mm bolts

    4. A pair of tweezer

    5. Some books

    Disassemble your VSHG

    1. Return your VSHG, unscrew the 6 screws. The aluminium plate is easily removed. Notice the usage of book so the joystick don't touch the ground.
    2. Unscrew the 6 bolts, so you can separated the front plate from its frame. The two middles ones are pain in the ass to remove if you don't have the right tool..
    3. Geek pr0n: the components should be visible.
    4. You need to take away the restriction plate. Just press the 4 blacks hooks.

    Now the tricky part:

    The restriction plate

There is two part in the plate: the middle, mobile one (green with two yellow handles), and the external one (blue with two light blue things that keep the middle one in place).

You need to press the center piece upward while rotating it with the handle. Like lee_n said,

After that, don't forget to put your stick together again. Then, voil, a 4 way VSHG stick !

  2. You're smarter than me since you took pictures of the procedure. Well written guide too, I'm sure it'll come in handy for alot of people.

  3. Well, I was planning on doing this exact thing next weekend (read: my weekend so Tuesday Wednesday). But if you want to do it for me then by all means!! [IMG]

I think I'll still add a section in the wiki about joysticks and guides, with specific details/instructions for sanwa and seimitsu sticks.

so you are cracking something !?! [IMG]

  5. I'm persuaded that the piece sequence of Sakura mode is in fact a ciphered subliminal message, so that's why I read the Code Book [IMG][IMG] .

(for those more curious, the others book are: Harrap's de Poche Dictionnaire Anglais-Franais, le Petit Larousse (dition 1995), Campbell, Reece, Mathieu et al. Biology (2nd french edition), Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman most excellent Good Omens, Dictionnaire bilingue de l'argot d'aujourd'hui, Plato's Apology of Socrates, Terry Pratchett's (again !) Feet of Clay, Douglas Adams' Life, the Universe and Everything)
