Tetris noob that knows nothing of the great tetris players.

  1. "Jin8? Sorry bud, but he is a noob. I wouldn't put Jin8 in the top 3 in Japan alone. Jin8 is mediocre at TGM and good at DS. Being good at DS means nothing, sorry. "

In my opinion I listed in order the top 3 tetris players in Japan:

    Jin8(TGM-HOLiC)

    Samaf

    AUDINL9

He thinks that they all suck. Please help me tell this noob that he is completely far from the truth.

By "TGM" did the noob mean "TGM1"? Because isn't Jin8 one of the Ti GMs?

  3. I don't know of the last one, or at least not under that name.

Jin8 is extremely good, easily one of the best at TGM, also good at Tetris DS (or he was when he played)

Samaf is pretty damn amazing at Tetris DS

    For TGM I'd add:

KAN, DIS and ZAB. The first two because they're both qualified GM's on TGM3, and ZAB because his speed on Shirase is insane.

For Tetris DS I'd add NOAH, and I'm not really aware of any other greats, seeing as I've slipped completely out of the loop as far as the game goes.

  4. AUDINL9 had an old name of Phoenix.

  5. Jin8 is easy. Just make him watch this video.

  6. yeah, the guy obvoisly knows nothing about what he is talking about.

  7. Jin8 is one of the best Tetris players, he's the only one to be GM in both CLASSIC and WORLD in Ti, he was also the first to achieve the GM rank and now he's one of three (!) GMs in that game.

If you call that "mediocre" then you're retarded.

AYA is worth mentioning too, he's only a few seconds behind ZAB in shirase..

That's the second fastest shirase session I've seen.

edit: .. oh, and 777 for his amazing TGM1 skills.

  8. I LMAO'd at all of this. He based tetris skill by the number of youtube views in 2 completely different modes. Master and Shirase. This guy must be somehow related to Ghetto xD.

Not even mentioning that to get GM, you have to not just survive a super fast forced speed with full invisibility once the piece is placed, you also have to perform well, as in clearing tetrises. Yeah, I can crank those out on an average day... [IMG]

apparently this guy seems to think that master mode is meaningless and shirase is where it's at, and ranks people by their shirase performance. Because Jin8 isn't posting shirase all clears, that makes him "weak".

  11. I said.

    He responds.

BTW, his name is Syno. I'm not sure if that's the name he uses as his Xbox Live GamerTag.

Dude, Master and Shirase are two different modes. Jin8 also plays Shirase and have beaten the record in the video you posted by a mile. Not to say that Jin8 is the best at Shirase but he's quite up there. And like I said before, if you think getting GM in Master is easier than getting S13 in Shirase, then you might want to compare the number of GMs to the number of S13s.

No disrepect to caffeine but M.Bison and Maserati blew the roof off of LJ in terms of speed (consistent 200+ TPM). Not only that, M.Bison also grabbed first place in 180 seconds with the highest score.

I wasn't around to witness Xidau, but if you think Philly is the best player in the world, you've way off. Based on the videos I've seen of him. He's nothing special compared to the highest levels I've witnessed in terms of guideline multiplayer. Next to the likes of samaf and NOAH, Philly cannot even compare in stacking and setup efficiency.

You don't even know what you're talking about. I'm sorry but Jin8 has been overthrown in TDS by samaf. The standard level of the top players have risen greatly since the time Jin8 reigned supreme and unchallenged. As for your other claims, yes TDS may have high delays, but you can't say the same for the highest levels of TGM3, of which Jin8 can handle with ease.

All of those are western centric games. The singleplayer in all three suck. The multiplayer in Splash is conditioned for fairly high level play but the community is too restricted for real representation of skill. If and when there will be a game like Splash available globally and easily attainable, you'll see the wrath of the strongest players.

correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Jin8 the first to reach GM in Ti? that means not only was he good enough, he was good enough to get it without knowing how.

  16. It's not really a case of knowing how though. It's just being good enough and having the consistency to get the promo exam.

well, my line of thinking was that he had to over-train and exceed the GM requirements. players now have specific goals to aim for, and once their section times (for example) are "good enough" they can work on making more tetrises and the invisible roll. he had to continue improving in every aspect of the game because he didn't know where he was falling short.

Does Ti require tetrises in each section like TAP does? If it's based on COOLs, it would appear that the 6 in 100-199 would be a bitch to get even if you are trying. Or is it just to improve the grade and the section times?

  19. There are different kinds of cools, and only the "section cools" actually influence your grade directly. Tetris cools are not strictly required, even if GM class players consistently get them anyways.

It's kind of funny, because the m-roll requirements are generally more lax than in TAP, and with Hold and the extra previews it's easier than ever before to satisfy difficult conditions. So it's doubly easier to get the m-roll (assuming you can play comfortably at the maximum forced speed).

And it is not that hard to get 10 lines in TI m roll, in order to gain 1 additional rank.
