TGM on DS

  1. Card arrived! Now I have to buy a DSiLL...

  2. Ah, neat! I was wondering what happened about this topic. :)

  3. I received 3 cards : the acekard, one SD adapter card and one micro sd card. On which card I am supposed to download the file? Btw, I should get my DSiLL tomorrow :)

  4. Put your rom into the micro-sd (you can use the sd adapter so you can write on it with your computer), then your micro-sd into the acekard.

  5. Done! Can't wait for tomorrow :)

    Thanks all!

  6. OK, DS bought !

So I copied the file Jago gave me on the micro-SD then put the micro-sd on the acekard, the the acekard on the DS.

Strange names appeared (chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian, Disney studios ??), then I click and and a blue "System File is missing" torns my heart in two. Did I miss something?

BTW, I bought the acekard on a chinese site (link above) and my CC was cracked one week later...

  7. It seems the DS doesn't recognize the card, acts like if there's no cards inserted. :/

  8. I seem to have lost my Acekard, so I can't check the exact error it gives when you don't have files it needs on the microSD card.

But I'm pretty sure that means you just need to follow some steps for the one time setup. Go here: http://www.acekard.com/download.php

Download AKAIO 1.8.9 from that website. Unzip it. Copy the contents such that "akmenu4.nds" and "__aio" are in the root of the microSD card.

    X:/akmenu4.nds
    X:/__aio/ak.ico
    etc.

Where X is the drive letter of your microSD card. That should be all the setup the card requires. (Note: You can place the NDS_TGM and any other games anywhere on the microSD card except the __aio folder which is hidden from the menu by default)

If you got the blue screen at least one, that should mean the Acekard actually did boot that time so you have a firmware that works with your console. If that wasn't true, you would get a black screen that looks something like this: http://www.r4wood.com/product_images/uploaded_images/erro_message.jpg But in Japanese ;) It's supposed to show up as Prince Caspian or some other game, since that's how it gets around Nintendo's checks for it.

As for it not recognizing the card, that's a bigger issue. Since it has worked at least once, that's a sign it's not DSi blocking it.

DSi allows you to take the card out safely while the system is powered on as long as you're on the main menu, so you can try things like actually holding the card down to see if it shows up. (Normally when you push it down, it pops back up and clicks into place. instead of letting it do this, keep holding it down and see if it appears.) See if you can get it started if it does appear this way. Yes, this may mean holding the card down in an uncomfortable position while trying to boot it and look at the screen.

If it works and you see the menu, turn the system off. You obvious can't play TGM like that, but it should give some peace of mind that it sort of works. There are a few things to help the card make better contact with your DSi.

  9. Kasumi, will you marry me?

    It WOOORKS !!!

Thank you so much !! :)

  10. Question regarding this amazing game. Do someone has details about its story? I heard that Mihara contacted the creator to ask him to stop the development, but is there on the forum a place where I can find the whole stuff ? Just to know about what it's talking about, it seems annoying some people when I tweet about it...

  11. Sure, here's the website of the developer: http://meraman.dip.jp/

He uploaded some dev history here: http://meraman.dip.jp/index.php?NDS_TGM

You can also find posts about what he was adding to NDS_TGM during its development on the blog there.

From what I can tell, the takedown story is not particularly interesting, but those notes are probably as close as you'll get to the whole story.

  12. Zaphod77

    Zaphod77 Resident Misinformer

as I understand it, it was finally taken down and development stopped because pirates were making stand alone carts of it.
