The Introduction Thread

  1. Thanks, its been 3 months now since I first saw this and went here. Besides, I am fond of playing single player (and sometimes multi) because its tests your guts, reflexes, and the way you play alone.

  2. Hi! My name is Ramiro, and I'm from Argentina. I played tetris for about 6 or 7 years from now, but I've been playing TGM for about 2 days. I started on TGM 1 because I read that it is the foundation of all TGM system. So far I've reached S1. I'm playing on keyboard, but in the future I plan to buy a stick.
I hope to get better at TGM and post my scores! (Is posting score from MAME allowed? As in Argentina is very difficult to find PCBs)

  3. Welcome Ramiro. :)

Posting MAME scores is fine. Though some members are fortunate enough to have their own PCBs or local arcades featuring the game, most score submissions for TGM1 and TGM2+ come from MAME.

    Amnesia Piece of Cake

Welcome to the so many recent new members, and a welcome to the french people also who are a lot !

    I am fan lol...
After 8 years I still have not invested into any of the 3 games.
This is the price which scares me, but more the stuff I will have to manage ONCE the pcb will arrive in my home. Seriously I am just a nerd player, I am totaly lost during the meeting when I see what people are doing in installing the games.

  9. Hi everyone, another newbie is here to annoy you !

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^

I remember my first time playing Tetris on GB when I was like 4 years old. I loved the game even though I couldn't make a single line :p
I acquired Tetris DS in 2007 or so and played it quite a lot, but I didn't play that much in multiplayer.
And it's only a week ago that I realized that the Level 20 on Tetris DS was a cakewalk.
So, I discovered TGM, started to play it, and after a few games I already improved a lot at Tetris... But I'm still a noob, really.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

Tetris DS, Tetris Battle when I want to play for fun
TGM series when I'm not too tired :D
Still haven't reached S1 in TGM though.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?

I'm a huge fan of music games, I play a lot of them.
I'm quite good at Dance Dance Revolution/In The Groove, beatmaniaIIDX and various pc games with similar gameplay, on keyboard.
I also enjoy pop n' music, taiko no tatsujin, and guitar hero/rock band, and guitar freaks too.

If I don't play that, I play casually at random games I find, but I especially enjoy vertical shooters, platform games, and old-school rpgs.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?

Puyo puyo is fun, but I'm a noob at this one too lol.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?

Looking for TGM tips and trivia, seriously, the wiki here is glorious.

Now for the general stuff :

I'm Akihiro, I'm 18 years old and I live in France.
I wanted to dive into Tetris after seeing live performances recorded at the Stunfest. I didn't know there was such great players here ^^
And I even met someone else who plays TGM this week-end too.

I'm genuinely amazed by the game mechanics of TGM, I didn't expect a Tetris game to be so thrilling, and yet "basic" (no fancy stuff)

    And... that's it :p

i'm a my little pony fanboy too please don't hurt me

  11. So many french/francophone people...

How about opening "Le Concept Tetris"?

    :awe:

  12. I propose to ban all the non-french members who do not memorize la Marseillaise within one week.

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?

In 2009 I've watching the Superplay with Amnesia and Petitprince on my TV and I really enjoyed it, but I did not Arcade stick, My really first Tetris Game was Teris Party Deluxe on Wii buyed two years ago (evidently, I've played sometimes on GameBoy but I've not really appreciated the game)

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

Tetris Party Deluxe on Wii for beginning Tetris <3
Tetris Friends for Online and Sprint but my computer it's really bad and this game is broken...
Tetris The Grand Master for become better than Amnesia!

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?

    - Crash Team Racing

  15. Welcome !

  16. Thank you guys, I enjoyed your comments and I'm really happy to join this community :)

  17. Hello Supernaze7!
It seems that you are on the right way indeed!

  18. 1. Why did you start playing Tetris?

I've been playing tetris since I could ever remember, I think the obsession really took off when I say the palace rocket away on the NES tetris. I do not consider myself a great player, but I made myself a stick and an willing to go down the long hard road to be a gm

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

I play TGM3 every day (emulated)
and Sudden on Texmaster (rarely break 200, but it's getting there)

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
The games I play I play to death, super mario world, sonic the hedgehog, oh megaman /megaman x (snes only)

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Played Yoshi's cookie, Dr.Mario and games like tetris 2 but never had the same flow and addictiveness of tetris.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
Searching for tips on tgm and currious of how I was doing compared to others.

  19. Welcome Marq. :)

Be sure to check out J.O's TGM Guide (Villadelfia's English rewrite) if you haven't stumbled upon it already. It has a lot of great advice and diagrams (both static and animated). Best of luck to you in your efforts! :D

  20. Thanks Kitaru, I had not seen that! It's quite a lot of info to take in but hopefully it will change my game for the better. It'll take some time to adjust, old habits die hard.
