Dude I spent HOURS playing The Incredible Machine 1 and 2 before the internet. Shit was cash. Welcome to the forum!

  2. There's a sequel to Wetrix ‽ Are there still rubber ducky bonuses ?

  3. I can't seem to find a good video :( There are still similar bonuses, but I can't remember if there are actually rubber duckies as well, or if it's just little fish.

  4. I thought it was time for me to write in this thread, so here is it. :)

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?

I'm also one of many that found out about TGM through AGDQ. It looked like a hard game, where you can improve your skills, and it definitly is, so I started playing TGM and TAP in Mame. My first Tetris game though was old gameboy tetris, but I didnt play much. I actively play TGM since about 3-4 months. I'm seriously not good. My best at the moment is a S3 (TGM1). But i really enjoy playing, so i have motivation to get better.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
I play TGM1 and TAP for about 20-30 minutes a day in modded MAME.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
Yap, there are games besides Tetris that i play. I play some online multiplayer games, like League of Legends, Heroes of the Storm and Starcraft 2 (maybe a little bit of CSGO with friends too). I like games where I can improve myself and learn. I also like to see my skill/progress in the form of a ranking system/highscore or something like that.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Not at the moment, but I really liked Portal 1+2 and World of Goo (if you can count this one as a puzzle game).

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
As i mentioned earlier, I found out about tetrisconcept through AGDQ and KevinDDR's stream.

  5. Tetris is love. Tetris is life.

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?
I'm not even sure to be honest. I never played the original Tetris games as I was raised on SEGA and Sony consoles for most of my childhood. The furthest I can remember was playing the flash Tetris with a few friends at school. Years later I went onto Tetris Friends with a few other friends as we used to do some form of casual night where we'd play random games for the night once a week and it turned out I could beat them by a fair bit and got hooked for a while. Now I've come back to Tetris with a goal that I can at least hit the S ranks in TGM3 (highest rank I've seen so far is 6 on TGM3 and 3 on TGM2. Too bad my best run was during a promotional exam by ~100 levels.)

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
At the minute, only TGM2, TGM3 and Tetris Friends. I generally tend to play around 1-10 games a day, mostly as a transition between things or when I'm bored.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any) keep you busy?
Whatever I feel like playing, to be honest. I have such a wide range of games yet I can only play certain ones when I'm in the mood for them.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
I've enjoyed a lot of puzzle games (not playing any at the minute though) such as Antichamber, Portal and Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
Mostly through Google whilst looking for a way to play TGM3 on Windows (Found a way yet the resolution is bugged so 80% of my screen is black (the game is a tiny little box in the middle of my screen.)

Also, I'm considering buying an arcade stick (for most games that use it. Not just for TGM.) I've narrowed it down to 2 but I don't know which one I should get. Should I go for the Razer Atrox or the Madcatz TE Stick and why? I've had bad times with Madcatz products in the past yet I seem to see a fair amount of positive reviews coming from it so I'm not too sure. Price doesn't bother me as I'd much rather have an expensive, yet great stick than a cheaper, yet 'meh' one.

  6. @Archina: I think either should be OK -- they both have the same parts (Sanwa JLF and OBSF30) and layout, so it'll mostly come down to price and miscellaneous features. (I recall the Atrox had a useful hinge to open the control panel from the top rather than unscrew the bottom.)

The MadCatz arcade sticks are in a completely different league than the chintzy MadCatz gamepads of days past, if that's what you're concerned about. The first revision of MadCatz PS3 arcade sticks did have a compatibility issue with certain USB chipsets, -- they worked fine on PS3 all the same, but you'd only be able to use it on some computers and not others -- but this was fixed in subsequent releases.

  7. 1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?

I've been playing Tetris since I had a gameboy, probably 1993. I didn't know that TGM existed until the NDS homebrew version came out. I would never consider myself a great player, but I can certainly blow casual tetris players minds by surviving 100 lines in Shirase.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

I don't have a whole lot of time for any video game these days to be honest, but I Texmaster every so often, mostly when I'm bored, for about a half an hour at a time.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any) keep you busy?

I'm embarassed to say that I've become quite a bit of a casual/nongamer in the last few years. Mostly I've been playing iOS games, so the best game I've played recently is FTL

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?

not really, no. i've played some in the past but none could hold my attention quite like TGM. I remember really liking Pokemon Puzzle League, though, and so I've gone back and played Planet Puzzle League and Yoshi Tetris to get a feel for that version

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?

I used to lurk back in 2009, 2010, back when I was first discovering TGM. I've since joined because I run a podcast where I try to introduce people to new things and Kitaru joined me to talk TGM. I also started following on Twitter after i published my first episode.

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^
I think I have started playing it, or rather, failed at playing it when I was 7 (so that was in 2002). I became a regular player starting 2009/2010, though. So I'd say I've been really playing it for 5 or 6 years now. I'm not a really good player, I have some friends who play even better than me (and could probably pick up TGM fairly well.)

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
Tetris GB (I got it from my uncle quite some time ago), Tetris Friends (I'm getting bored of level 1-11), I wanted to try Tetris DS but meh I need to keep money. I am trying to pick up TGM but I can't because it appears to be expensive, and I can't get any of these games to work anywhere. I did play TAP when I was in Lyon in July 2014 (Gamespirit if anyone is from there) and needless to say that was unexpectedly hard. But that was fun, at least something that challenged me.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
Gran Turismo 6 (PS3), Ratchet & Clank* (PS2/3), and osu! (PC), mostly. And for the last one, well, not going to brag about anything I've ever done there. I'm just dropping my profile in case you have a profile as well, so we can chat a bit about whatever you want. Aside from gaming I do enjoy remixing stuff or composing weird songs, making fun backgrounds that look like nothing and sometimes I make some videos for fun.

    * PS2 games are now mostly Any%NG+ speedruns, PS3 games are on their way to be completed before speedrunning Any% NG+.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Flow Free. I'm currently trying to all-perfect every pack (except tablet pack because my fingers are already failing at being ok with 6x6.)

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
UHHHHHH... I found it randomly. Was it because JAGO, Kitaru or KevinDDR ? I don't even know despite the short time from that point to now. But Kevin was the one who originally sparked the idea.

  9. You could always try the Tetris clones that have TGM-like modes inside such as Nullpomino or Texmaster. They're also useful for practice, too.

  10. Hi everyone, i know this board since long ago but only post now.
i'm a french player (from lille).

my goal before to subscribe was to become gm before, now it's done so here i am :)

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^

I begin tetris for a long time, probably like a lot of people, with the gameboy version. I don't remember how much i played so i can't tell details

Later, i have bought tetris DS, and played a long time, but the game was too easy, my record was like level 700 easily, just have a free morning.

Since like, 3 years, i was attracted by arcade games, mostly shmups. i don't know when and how i found it, but i found tgm like this. when my local arcade open, me and a friend decide to play seriously at tgm, but i don't seriously play at tgm until this year, and now i play tgm a lot, when i have some time, between anime / DDR / Studies

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

Like i explain in the first question, i actually play only TGM, mostly TGM1, but sometimes i play tgm2 in ta death to increase my speed / reactivity

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?

I'm a player who played like 1 or 2 games seriously in the same time. actually, i play TGM and Dance dance revolution. but i will probably in vacation play some Visual novel, Catherine and 1 shmup (probably ketsui)

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?

the only puzzle game i played a lot is catherine, i have like, 80 hours easily in Catherine. If someone wants details, i must finish rapunzel and axis mundi (bugged but possible).

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
know the forum since a while ago, but i think i found it to find some tgm tips, i found kitaru's website and tc

    see you later :)

  13. Hi there...I'm a 34 years old Tetris player from Germany who loves the TGM Series Furthermore I'm an arcade enthusiast :D
I recently bought a Taito Type X System to play TGM3. I hope it will be delivered the upcoming week. Can't wait :)

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^
I saw the "Tetris The Grand Master 2" video from Arika back in 2002 or 2003 and I was stunned how fast and smooth this port plays. But I start to play the TGM Series in 2013.
Honestly said I am an average player but I want to improve my skills.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
I usually play TGM2 on Groovymame and a CRT(15khz) or the PC Port of TGM3 :( But in the near future I'm able to play TGM3 on the real Taito arcade hardware with my supergun. The leaked PC port is rather stiff to play at high speed. I hope the real hardware will be more responsive to play.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
I love the Marvel Vs. Capcom series on my CPS2 Boards, especially X-Men Vs. Street Fighter. In addition to that I love playing the 80/90s arcade games like Wonder Boy III Monster Lair, Shinobi and Daimakaimura just to name a few.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Well, actually I like the Magical Drop Series on the Neo Geo MVS.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
I was looking for information about the TGM Series lately and find this nice forum.

In highschool a couple years ago, I mostly play tetris battle on facebook! I havent been match defeated in a year and I've gotten 200 win streaks so I consider myself a pretty decent player

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
I play Tetris Battle on FB with 3 accounts so thats about 1 hour a day, I warm up playing TGM3 and sometimes I end up playing TGM until my hands start hurting.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?

I like League of Legends for PC and I LOVE playing Cytus on my phone

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Candy crush saga haha, I reached the 500th level a couple years ago and I got to chat with the creator of the game <3 I also like Zookeeper battle

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?

  18. Hey everyone, Joey here

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?
in 2nd grade, i got pneumonia and missed a month of school. i had so much homework to get caught up on, my mom said that i could get any new nintendo game when i finished it. i had my eye on Mario 2, but it was all sold out. i settled for tetris, and have been hooked ever since! best accident of my life!

i remember when i was in middle school, i was trying to show off my skills to my big sister and bet her i could get a Tetris in level 19. It took a couple hours, but i finally got it. i got better through high school, and in college, i'd get hammered and play tetris...it was my party trick. i joined the air force and kept playing until about 2005 when i got a TV upgrade. then in 2013 i was finishing up grad school and saw the documentary. got me all fired up about playing again. unearthed the old tv and started up again!

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?

NES Tetris and Gameboy Tetris. Gameboy tetris was daily for me until i hooked up my old tv again. the versions are different, so playing both is fun

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?

i'm terrible at all other video games, but i'm big into tabletop gaming

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?

    none, really

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
Jake told me about tetrisconcept. I met him, Kristen, Chad, Josh, and Beth at the Plano convention this past weekend. Thanks everyone for the great advice...I'm looking forward to getting out of my 700k bubble soon.

  19. hola everybody.

    1. Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player? ^^
i was visiting family in puerto rico and tetris was one of the few games i was able to play, back when i was maybe nine years old? that's when i actually found out how to play tetris because nobody told me about the concept of clearing lines before then. i don't think i'm all that great but i am better than my friends.

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
the elusive lockjaw is the only tetris i've played in a while. i haven't played recently but when i do i'll play a round or two every day.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ^^) keep you busy?
i'm not big on video games all that much but the three games i have spent the most time on in steam are audiosurf 2, mini metro and the binding of isaac. i have also been playing stepmania on and off since 2007, and i figure since there's a guy in the tetris community named "KevinDDR" that might be worth mentioning

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
i played collapse when i was in elementary school. does chip's challenge count as a block game? what about minecraft?

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
i rewatched the AGDQ 2015 video to get some information on TGM that i needed for a project that i will start to discuss here in a couple of weeks when i start to get it underway, and the people who were there mentioned these forums so i decided i'd go ahead and join to get some more information about the game for the aforementioned project. i'm also joining harddrop for the same reason under the same name so consider this my introduction for that place as well

  20. 1.Why did you start playing Tetris? Can you also please specify how long you have been playing and if you consider yourself a great player?
My dad introduced me to Tetris when I was a freshman in high school (currently a freshman in college). I started playing the iOS version around that time, and have recently started playing nullpomino 40L mode and the TGM series. I consider myself great at the iOS version (3 million points routinely), not great at 40L mode(1:16 P.B.) and not great at TGM (S4 on TGM1).

    2. What Tetris games do you play and how much do you play?
I play TGM, TAP, Ti, nullpomino, and the iOS Tetris. I have about 90 hours logged in iOS Tetris, and maybe 10 combined for all the TGM games. I'll occasionally play Tengen and NES Tetris on Wii virtual console.

    3. What other games besides Tetris (if any ) keep you busy?
I speed run Super Monkey Ball, and play stepmania with a dance pad every now and then.

    4. Any other block/puzzle games you enjoy?
Not particularly. I'll play Dr. Mario once and a while.

    5. How did you find out about tetrisconcept?
I think KevinDDR or someone at AGDQ2015 mentioned it and I've kinda been lurking since then.
