In TDS, what's the average TPM of the CPU 5, armed with a stopwatch and a calculator, I got like 140-150 TPM. Anyone else got an actual number? I'm playing pretty much at the exact same speed as the CPU 5. I was playing a game, and everytime the CPU Tetrised was when I would, and I spent like a minute without any garbage coming up on either side. However, my best 40 line clear is a 1:10, which is around 90 TPM. Can anyone explain this? Also, does anyone have any tips on upping my TPM?
For multiplayer there are other things coming into play than just pure speed, though if the CPU is only sending Tetrises and there's no garbage involved then they'd be a little bit irrelevant. Also, you're working out your TPM from your time, but what was your actual TPM? Some of my fastest runs for piece placement have not been my fastest for time because I had a load of wasted blocks left at the end.
I am not sure of the speed of the computer, but as far as your question of why you might be going slower in Lockjaw it might be muscle memory that you need to develop. You have to play awhile to get use to Lockjaw and the different DAS it can have. It also has no line clear delay which you need to get use to. Tetlag, I think is what people call it. You just need to get use to the difference in playing the two games and I am sure you will speed up some. One tip I have for upping TPM is to get use to lower DAS. I found after practicing enough on 5 DAS that I could go faster than at 6 or 7 DAS. It takes a little to get use to lower DAS and you will misdrop and go slower at first when using a lower DAS, but I think the end result is worth it.
