I'm having a bit of trouble downloading the file on both Maxthon and Firefox. The initial page loads fine, but after I enter the download code, a blank page loads without any download dialog.
Ahh, I see the problem you are facing. Try to avoid creating "pyramid" shaped structures. You are fighting a battle against probability and chances are you will end up in awkward situations, forcing yourself into compromises that do not favor your score.
Nice job, you're coming along pretty well. Said the guy who hasn't played much TGM-style Tetris. You should try it out, it plays much differently than what you're used to.
Hey, I have played Heboris before and have seen quite a lot of videos regarding 20g style gameplay. I'm sure you would agree that creating situations where only T,S, and/or Z pieces can fit is not a very wise decision. You may have misunderstood my previous message regarding the term "pyramid." I understand perfectly well that it is favorable to have a higher center as the pieces land in one frame.
Well that's good then. As for S,Z,T... that depends on the context. If you haven't received that particular piece in a while it's actually a smart move because of how the randomizer works.
That's a good point about the randomizer and expectations. Generally though, I try to create situations where I need to think less, especially at the higher levels of devil. The speed can be overwhelming if one thinks too much. One aspect that I still need to master is the extreme sensitivity of the horizontal piece movement. Once in a while, I tend to slip and place pieces in places I did not plan to. I've seen your replay before and how do move with such fluidity? Also, do you use a keyboard or some other form of control?
That replay was done on keyboard, though I also use arcade joysticks. I've tried gamepads before but I really don't like using them for TGM style play. The fluidity came from playing TGM1. The long between piece time (ARE) in that game restricts you to a slow speed, so to do a better time attack (once you are S9/GM only time matters in TGM) you have to develop a strong technique. You must fully prepare your movements during ARE, and then execute them in the blink of an eye without hesitation. Furthermore, the Sega rotations are harsh... A rotation will never lift a piece up in the air, so you never get to reset your lock timer on level ground. You'll notice Sega TGM players dealing the pieces out at a regular pace, unlike World TGM player who will "pause" when they are in a tight spot. The long ARE and Sega rotations actually force you to develop that fluidity. You'll notice I don't use the delayed auto shift (DAS) to place pieces just anywhere. It's too fast to control with that sort of precision consistently. However, I'll use it very often to launch a piece to a wall/hole, or launch it to a wall/hole and then backtrack once. These moves are easy and fast so you learn to use them often. Check the TGM pages in the tetrisconcept wiki for more info. Zangi-moves are especially cool.
I know at least nicholas plays with keyboard macros: one for several left presses and one for several right presses. Then to place a tetromino in the second column, press firm-left followed by right. One key setup that could work: U = 5 left J = left Space = hard drop K = down O = 5 right L = right D or G = rotate left F = rotate right A = hold
invisibility challenge owned me. i need to practice that. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?a ... 6A084EF4D9
i've improved, i think. <a href="http://www.tetrisconcept.com/REPLAY02.SAV">one</a> and <a href="http://www.tetrisconcept.com/REPLAY04.SAV">two</a> "efficient practice precedes the theory of it" -Gilbert Ryle
You're coming along really well kotetsu, I bet you'd get an awesome grade in TGM1 with a good run. Nick's replays are broken for me... I probably have to upgrade to the bleeding edge.
It's true you used a lot of Hold, but you weren't really taking advantage of the extended Ti rotations.
I keep forgetting about those. They really do have a huge impact. I broke the torikan with all TAP rules except I kept the 3 piece previews (forgot to turn them off really), and was able to do it consistently. By which I mean like 3-4 times an hour. But still. I then played some TAP and suddenly really noticed they were gone. I turned it off in Heboris to get the true TAP feel and I took a major speed hit. I think it's for the best though, because playing high speed without them really does push your mind faster. I'm getting more consistent with 1 piece preview now but it is very much harder.
