So I did it yesterday

  1. So yesterday, I went to my local arcade/video game shop (a little shop with a couple of astro cities) to play some dodonpachi daiffukatsu black label.
I broke my high score and just before leaving, I thought I might have a look at the second hand xbox games to see if they had some shmupers.
And I saw this game I didn't know about: Tetris evolution for only 9 euros.
I take the box and show it to the shop owner who sends me a little "haaaa, this one, I KNEW nobody else than you would buy it". Which wasn't what I would have tell a client to force him buying out lol
So I asked to try the game a couple of minutes and finally got back home with it.

First quiet disappointing for me, since it's SRS and furthermore, you cannot change the controllers configuration so I couldn't play with my arcade stick (it only has six buttons and of course, none were mapped with the hold lol)
So after a few tries with my xbox pad, I got used to it and actually started to pretty enjoy the game.

One hour after starting playing, I turned it off to go to sleep. Was dead tired.
First time ever I start a new xbox 360 game and get 12 out of 40 success in only one hour o_O
I could even have gotten three more if I wasn't bored playing marathon (half an hour on one game is too much for me haha)

Does anyone here play this game ?
Coz the wiki doesn't say much about it ^^
I don't understand two things: what on earth is a back-to-back tetris ?
How on earth do you get a looooot of points faster than doing tetrises ? T-spins and so on ?

  2. Clear two tetrises in a row, without make any other clears in between. T-spins also usually keep the back-to-back chain going.

And yeah, you'll mostly likely get the most points by ST stacking.

  3. That's what I thought first, but then, got a back to back tetris without clearing anything before so I was rather surprised

Just realised that one of the successes was to clear three tetrises in a row, gotta be patient for this one haha

  4. By "in a row" I don't mean two consecutive pieces. You just need no singles, doubles or triples in between.

  5. Also, I think making T-Spins between Tetrises doesn't break the Back-to-Back bonus.

  6. I've got this game. Got all the achievements in one sitting, except I think for a few versus-based stragglers. The versus is much better in Tetris Splash unfortunantely. This game has internet lag before you even see the results of your own input. Also as I recall the game insists on contacting the Live servers after each and every game you play in single player, which for some reason means there's a 5 second delay before you can do anything.

But yeah my complaints are mostly technical. Mechanically the game is fine. Fun for a few hours I guess, but like most SRS games I got bored quickly with it.

Also cyberguile why are you not on my friends list?!?

  7. your friend's list on xbox live ?
Because I only play super street fighter 4 online ^^

  8. Ai

    Ai

I bought the game last summer. Also got all achievements within a day. The only achievement I had trouble with was the following:

    Big Ol Cascade 50
Trigger 8 or more Cascade Line Clears with a single drop.

I played multiplayer only for a few days. Problem was that most of the time there was absolutely nobody online. I still managed to get close to top 100 even though I don't like playing with gamepad.

This user is/was at the top of quite a few leaderboards with his fast t-spinning. I don't think he likes to play multiplayer though. Also a while ago someone in the introduction thread was looking for players to play online.

  9. I've played it, and it's fine. Fun for a couple of hours like some of you guys already said.
Though in my opinion the 360 pad is horrible for Tetris and I can simply not play for even 10 seconds without misdropping.
