I've tried many times, I can get the first T-Spin down, but I can't keep the pattern going. I either stack the blocks up on the left too high and I forget to leave an open spot, or the open spot is put in the wrong place. Any tips for a n00b ST stacker?

  2. Sounds like you just need to pay better attention to how it's done. Watch this video very carefully. With enough practice, it becomes much easier to do.

Alright, thanks man. It helped alot.

  4. I'm hardly a pro at it, but one of the things that gave me my best run was to stack J, Z, O, S, L on top of each other in 2 columns to make the T-spin nooks (then lather, rinse, and repeat starting with J again), so that's it's automatic what the one piece is that I always need to stack to maintain the pattern, and it also leaves 5 columns open to have more freedom to stack with. Meanwhile, I use L, S, S, S to score the T-spins, then place an upside down J to fill in the space against the wall, and finally score the Tetris, which puts you back in a position to start with L all over again every 12 lines.

See, I just can't get the nooks down properly. It's so hard, I dunno how to get the right set of tetronimos for the nooks, then I end up screwing up the whole pattern.

  6. How are you with stacking for Tetrises? If you can't reliably get back-to-back Tetrises, ST stacking is probably going to be too hard to pull off. If you are pretty skilled at placing pieces, it's probably just a matter of practice to learn all the ways to place pieces to do ST stacking. I've been trying it the past couple weeks, and at first I could barely manage the first 12 lines, then I got up to 40, and now I'm up to about 80, so it just seems to be a question of rewiring your brain to stack differently. Watching videos of people doing perfect ST stacking might not be that instructive, because when you make mistakes you have to find ways to try to fix them and carry on with the stacking, so you might have to skip a T-spin here and there and stack 2 S's or else clear lines so that you can place your S's level with your nooks.

Yeah, but I'm trying to get up real high in the Tetris Friends leaderboard, where the only way to get up high in Tetris Ultra is by being a T-Spin whore. But in all actuality, I totally agree with you, Few T-spins here and there and you'll own.

  9. That's not what he means. He's just asking about tetris stacking because it is a basic stacking skill that would predict the ability to ST stack. If someone can't stack for tetrises they definitely can't ST stack.
